25 Years Anniversary

In December 2023, Lady Gregory Hotel proudly celebrated 25 years in business. In December 1998, Lady Gregory Hotel opened its doors to the public.

History of Lady Gregory Hotel

There was great excitement when it was announced that a new luxury hotel was to be developed in the town of Gort on the site of Our Ladies College. The vision and execution of the development was that of Michael & Maura O’Grady of O’Grady Construction. Both remain active within the business, with their daughter Aileen heading up operations at the property.

From the beginning the hotel quickly established itself as a popular venue and has been honoured to host over its 25 years weddings, social events, family celebrations of all kinds and host visitors to the region from around the globe. The hotel has always embraced the local communities and feels that this is an important aspect of the business and pride themselves on being a trusted choice.

As well as being a huge boost for tourism in the South Galway region, the hotel brought employment to the local area where it employs 90 staff at the height of each season and with a focus on buying local it is a major contributor to the local economy.

Guestrooms & Hotel Facilities

Originally opened with 48 guestrooms, throughout the years the O’Grady’s have continually invested in refurbishments and upgrades to the property, with the most notable being the addition of Swan Leisure Club and a further 39 bedrooms in 2006. More recently the development of Lady G Beauty & Wellness Rooms, Dilly’s Courtyard and an extension to Swan Leisure have greatly enhanced the Lady Gregory experience. And in the coming weeks they will be unveiling a brand-new dining experience.
