The Aran Islands are a group of three islands located at the mouth of Galway Bay, just off Galway & Doolin on the west coast of Ireland. There are various ways of getting to the Aran Islands by ferry during your stay. The closest ferry point to Lady Gregory Hotel, Leisure Club & Beauty Rooms is from the Galway City Docks just under a 40 minute drive or take the scenic route to Doolin Ferry, just 50 minutes away, sailing times vary depending on which island you visit.

From west to east the islands are Inishmore which is the largest, Inishmaan is the second largest and Inisheer is the smallest island. A true Irish experience awaits, locals speak Irish as well as English in a setting of Celtic churches of historical significance.
Inishmore
The largest island, Inishmore, meaning the big island, is a place of natural beauty with a unique landscape. It is home to the prehistoric fort of Dún Aonghasa, which is set on a dramatic 300ft cliff edge. Inishmaan
The second largest of the islands, Inishmaan is where you’ll find a more authentic escape from the modern world. With a population of 200 people, it is the less visited of the three islands. This island has a hilly landscape and features crystal clear views of the Cliffs of Moher and some interesting Celtic and Christian sites. Most recently it has become a centre for diving with its beautiful marine life and clear waters.
Inisheer
The smallest island Inisheer, is characterised by its distinctive charm. The Cliffs of Moher are clearly visible in all its panoramic splendor. The main village area is right next to the beach and is enclosed by a small hill with a castle and a fort at the top. The island is 3km by 3km wide with small hills and intricate little valley’s and is easily covered by foot or bike. The island features a traditional music bar which has a nationwide reputation for the finest music and a great night out.
