Coole Park
Coole Park is located just 3 km north-west of the lovely town of Gort in Co. Galway.
Coole Park which, together with the adjoining Garryland, is a Nature Reserve of approximately 405 hectares. The seven woods celebrated by W.B Yeats are part of the 6 kilometres of nature trails taking in woods, river, turlough, bare limestone and Coole lake.
There are two trails to follow. "The Family Trail" is an easy 1.75 km walk, taking you past the deer pen, the site of the house and into the walled garden to see the famous Autograph Tree. The 4.5 km "Seven Woods Trail" connects the different woods made famous in poetry by W.B. Yeats. Depending on the season, you might see bluebells and violets, jays and treecreepers, red squirrels and stoats, butterflies and dragonflies, or swans and other wetland birds.This Galway Attraction is simple but yet beautiful, enjoy a family picnic, bring along the bikes or enjoy a family game of football, anything goes at Coole park. Turoe Petfarm

Rathbaun Farm
Rathbaun Farm is situated Ardrahan less than 10 minute's drive from Gort town centre and is the ideal choice with looking for fun family activities in Galway. One of the few farms in the country to stock all of the 7 breeds of animal native to Ireland. Visitors to Rathbaun Farm will become enchanted by its thatched cottage home, turf fire, stone walls and an array of animals.
Time spent here gives a glimpse into the daily workings of a sheep-farm with plenty of time to see the animals, you are also invited to hand feed the new lambs which are in plentiful supply between March and November and explore the farmyard.
The farm is situated in the west of Ireland with the Slieve Aughty Mountains to the South and the Atlantic Ocean to the West. A wonderful setting for a wonderful family day out!
Some of the activities on Rathbaun Farm are scone making - which proves to be a big hit, Fintans farm tour, sheep shearing , rounding up the sheep and feeding the lambs. Salthill Beach; the beach at Salthill is a Galway attraction that cannot be missed and always manages to retain its blue flag so be assured its waters are really clean and safe. The beach is actually numerous small beaches that are separated by crops- some are sandy and some are pebbly. The spectacular views of Galway Bay are breath-taking. Traught Beach Kinvara; Traught is a blue flag beach with a difference! It is part of the Special Area of Conservation called the Galway Bay Complex. Along with having great surf, sandy shore and a small area of dunes, the beach is also of special interest for waterfowl. This beach is for the whole family and located just 10 minutes drive from Gort
Loughrea Lake; The Loughrea Lake is a popular venue for families and locals. The Long Point with its plentiful car parking, changing and toilet facilities is a superb and safe place for swimming. The lake is an excellent stretch of water for sailboarding and canoeing. Boats can be hired on a daily basis. A very modern playground overlooks the lake, making Loughrea Lake the ideal destination for family activities and only 20 minutes drive from Gort
Fanore Beach; Its gaelic meaning "fainne oir" means ring of gold, with reference to its beautiful sandy beach. This beach is located on the R477 road between Ballyvaughan and Doolin North Clare, a 40 minute drive from Gort. With the Burren landscape as backdrop this coast road is simply breath-taking and well worth the drive. The beach is long sandy and safe and a very popular family destination
Leisureland, Salthill
Leisureland in Salthill is an ideal choice when picking family activities in Galway and has everything needed to keep all the family happy.
